JLTC 2024-25

Jewish-Latino Teen Coalition Application 2024-25

You are invited to apply to participate in a diversity, leadership and advocacy program that includes a trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2025.

Now in its twentieth year, the Jewish-Latino Teen Coalition is a collaborative project created by Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona (JPSA) and Representative Raúl M. Grijalva with the purpose of bringing together members of Southern Arizona’s Jewish and Latino communities to explore shared values and concerns and develop future leaders.

Each year, participants in the Jewish-Latino Teen Coalition participate in months of intensive experiential learning that includes cultural exchange, leadership training, social action, and advocacy training.

The Coalition will select a public policy topic which they will research, develop a position on and then advocate for with members of Congress and other government officials in Washington D.C. Past advocacy topics have included: the Dream Act, immigration reform, action to stop genocide in Darfur, education reform, an exploration of policy surrounding guns in America, and programs to eliminate childhood hunger.

We invite high school sophomores or juniors of Latino and/or Jewish descent who are interested in learning about each other’s culture and history and becoming future leaders to apply for this program.

The cost for participation is $250. Scholarships are available.

Please submit your application, letter of recommendation, and essay by November 1, 2024.
