We invest in the institutions and experiences that cultivate identity, connection, and leadership across generations. This includes support for JPSA’s beneficiary agencies such as Tucson Hebrew Academy (THA), the Tucson Jewish Community Center (Tucson J), and the University of Arizona Hillel Foundation (Hillel), alongside transformative programs such as One Happy Camper and camp scholarships, the Jewish Education Inclusion Program, and the Jewish Latino Teen Coalition. We host bi-annual grant cycles and microgranting opportunities throughout the year for organizations including our local synagogues and the Tucson Jewish Free Loan. We foster the next generation of leaders through initiatives like Hava Tequila, the Ben Gurion Society, and our men’s and women’s leadership cabinets. Through Women’s Philanthropy (Connections, Lion of Judah, and Momentum), we deepen engagement and inspire lasting commitment. Additional efforts, including Connect Jewish Tucson and winter resident programming, ensure broad and meaningful community participation.
Ensuring the safety and strength of our community is a central priority. JPSA’s Community Security Initiative safeguards institutions and communal spaces, while the Center for Jewish Resilience (CJR) advances a proactive approach to education, advocacy, and coordination. Through the Southwest Institute, we equip leaders with tools to navigate an increasingly complex environment. Incident reporting systems, security assessments, trainings, and briefings, alongside initiatives such as the Lakin Lecture Series on antisemitism, LiveSecure community security funds, and the Tepper Grant Funding for summer camp security, further reinforce our communal infrastructure. We also provide critical grant funding to local Jewish institutions to meet evolving security needs.
Rooted in the core value of communal responsibility, we provide essential services to those facing vulnerability. This includes Jewish Emergency Financial Assistance (JEFA), senior transportation and care, AgeWell Days, and community chaplaincy. We uphold dignity at every stage of life through indigent burial services, while programs such as the Homer Davis Project and Mitzvah Magic extend compassionate, hands-on support for school-aged children and families. Our work also encompasses refugee resettlement, migrant relief, and dedicated care for Holocaust survivors, ensuring that no member of our community is overlooked.
We strengthen the bonds between Southern Arizona and the global Jewish community, with Israel at the center of that connection. Through the Weintraub Israel Center and our Community Shaliach, we bring Israeli culture and perspective into everyday community life. JPSA expands access to transformative experiences through Birthright Israel, and we celebrate shared identity through events like the Israel Festival. Our commitments extend globally through partnerships with the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, overseas grants, and emergency and relief funding, ensuring that our community remains both locally rooted and globally engaged.
the Foundation’s Investment Committee lay leaders and our investment management company, SEI Investments, work together to ensure that our donor and community funds are prudently invested for optimum performance over time.
